Eden Wexler has created a niche for herself in the eyewear industry as an eyewear trends expert and by performing personalized sunglass fittings over the past 12 years on over 10, 000 celebrities at high impact events such as the Critic's Choice Awards MTV Video Awards, MTV Music Awards and The Grammy's to name a few. Mirrored aviatorswork well on long/oblong faces and heartface shapes. They take up more "room" or "space" on longer faces and the tear drop shape brings the attention to the eyes and away from the overall wideness of the forehead for those with heartshaped faces
Round sunglasss are great on square face shapes. They will soften angles and make face appear more balanced.
Oversized cat eye sunglasses compliment a larger oval face shape and work well on a rounder face as the exaggerated silhouette appears to stretch the width of the eye area and provide a nice uplift in the cheekbone area.
Retrosquare wayfarer styles work well on oval, round, square and slightly angular face shapes. The rectangular shape offsets facial roundness and compliments/evens out a square jaw line.
Retro Redux  The newest sunglass offerings offer some form of vintage appeal and feature stylistic eyewear influences from 40s, 50s and 60s. Excessively round retro shapes, key hole bridges and cat'seye silhouettes in all shapes and sizes, in particular, have taken center stage. Check out vintage variations from Dior, Giorgio Armani, Valentino and YSL to name a few.
Shield of Dreams  That's right folks, you heard it here first. The "shield" (single continuous lens across the eyes) is making a comeback. This sometimes futuristic or sporty sunglass look that is either metal rimmed or rimless originated in the sports arena and was later adopted as a fashion look. This look was extremely popular a decade ago and is now reemerging in a big way. This look has been spotted in Italy (where all the hottest sunglass trends originate) and other parts of Europe. Gucci, Dior, Marc by Marc Jacobs and Armani Exchange offer some fantastic options. Juicy Couture, Bottega Veneta, Valentino and Carrera offer a colorful array of options.
Blushing Brides While neutral flesh tones have been popular in footwear and makeup over the past few seasons, they are now making their way to apparel and eyewear. While the soft, fleshtone and nude hues aren't always the easiest to wear from a clothing perspective, they can be very complimentary on the face. Check out the new nudes from Alexander McQueen, Balenciaga, Bottega Veneta and Kate Spade. Available in bold or subdued pattern variations, it's easy to find the print that brings out the animal in you. Check out new looks from Jimmy Choo, Kate Spade, Dior and YSL.
New Luxury The newest sunglass offer understated elegance and focus on beautiful craftsmanship and innovative materials such as leather,Oakleys Outlet wood or rubber and are less about excessive displays of wealth. The logos are toneddown and the designs are minimalist in their approach  just clean, luxurious styling that stands the test of time. Pattern Panache Many designers are introducing iconic patterns on the frame fronts and/or temples of their eyewear that are distinctive and indicative of the fashion house's other accessories and fashions of the season. Examples of this include: Braided metals (Bottega Veneta), diamonding effects (Giorgio Armani), glitter accents (Marc Jacobs) and cannage patterns (Dior)
LENS TRENDS:
Mirror Mirror on the Wall Mirrored lenses in different variations are making their way back on the scene. Flash mirrors lenses with just a hint of a silver or gold mirrored effect look exceptionally chic (Marc by Marc Jacobs, Dior, Gucci and Juicy Couture). The new blue mirrored lenses in the Spring 2011 line from Carrera will soon be all the rage.
